Discover the Port of the Moon

The Port of the Moon is the name given colloquially to the port of Bordeaux, because of the large meander crescent described the Garonne River as it passes through the city.

This characteristic shape inspired the crescent moon which appears at the bottom of the coat of arms of the city.

The port of Bordeaux welcomes since ancient times all the fleets in the world.

It is responsible for the development of international trade and developments of the eighteenth century, including the Place Royale (now the Place de la Bourse), the Grand Theatre and the Allées de Tourny.

Since June 28, 2007, this part of the city of Bordeaux is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO
